18 Travel Truisms (or random nonsense)

Why do we travel?

This is the most obvious question travelers must answer on a constant basis. There are many answers, ranging from the mundane to the sublime to the pedantic to the overused. Ultimately, we travel because we can, lucky creatures that we are. Or, and this is perhaps veering towards the personal, we travel to emulate the chicken and get to the other side. Other side of what, you ask? Ah, the other side of the world, of course. Or maybe the other side of ourselves – the one who is adventurous and outgoing; who has so much to offer; who knows whole galaxies by heart; who is braver, brighter, better.

But I digress.

No such question will be answered here. Instead, we’ll go on a tangent and discuss travel truisms, which is a less conspicuous way of saying we’re going to put some silly pictures up and write some inanities on them. Because we can. Hey, it worked the last time.

  9. Hi,

    Awesome!

And yep, travel really does grow on you.

We’re doing a Fiji to Bali trip in about 12 hours.

Amazing. To think 42 months ago I was never on a plane and by the time I head back to New Jersey I’ll have flown 55 times.

    Crazy.

It really, really grows on you, as you meet new people, see new lands and embrace new cultures.

    Love this 😉

    Life is indeed too short.

    • FW North says:

Hey Greg! Yeah, life tends to be short(ish) and unexpected. Better move before the curtains closes 🙂 Good luck enjoying the Pura Vida!

Truisms are a lil bit of truth for all of us. The image of the pissing men in Prague took me back. Yes it CAN be weird, but that’s the best bit.

  16. Craig says:

Haha great post! All very true! “It can be weird” cracked me up, it’s funny to think that at some point someone thought that fountain was a good idea.

  17. Tim says:

Exactly – Why the f@#k not?

  18. Of course I’d like to know where the peeing guys are. Is that Slovenia or Slovakia?

    • FW North says:

Hi Reginia! The peeing guys are in Prague, Czech Republic. Their creator is David Černý, a Czech sculptor renowned for his surreal approach to History and the madness of our culture. If ever in Prague, check out his work! Good luck!

  19. Jessica says:

My favorite “there’s food”! There’s a truth to all of them!
