Doors of San Cristóbal
During our coffee tour in Chiapas, we had the opportunity to visit the Mayan cemetery of El Romerillo. We found one of its most striking aspects to be the wood planks placed on top of the graves, representing a gateway to the afterlife.
Wandering through San Cristóbal de las Casas, it was hard not to notice the multicolored entrances to a more prosaic world. I’ve always loved doors, and not just for metaphorical reasons. Surrounded by such a vast amount of shapes and colors, we became even more enchanted by the (some times vivid, other times faded) beauty of San Cristóbal.
Hence, I put together a small photo essay featuring a selection of doors from the streets of San Cristóbal de las Casas.
